A clean slate. .or something like that.

After my last host went down the proverbial shitter, taking my site with it, I never really got it back up and running properly, having started a new job, and then it just fell to the sidelines. Maybe if I hadn't have lost databases and backups I would have carried on, but stupidly I didn't make my own copies. But oh well, now isnt the time to dwell on the past, I'm told, now is the time to move one, its a new year, a fresh start, etc. etc.

I'm not entirely sure why this is always the way, and people feel the need to wait until a new calendar year to make a fresh start etc, but, as it happens, I have a couple days off and the inclination to do so, I'm going for it around this time :P
The whole New Years resolutions business always seems like a good idea to me, but I've never really gone at it with much gusto, as I couldn't be doing making false promises to myself and then making excuses when the fad wears off.

However, this being said, I'm all for goals, and after reading a friend's blog post along these lines, I feel inspired to create some reaslistic goals and work towards them.

For a start, I do want to more stuff 'for me' kinda thing. Past couple weeks I've been getting back to designing and doing photography purely just because and I love it. I want to work more towards that area of things and keep it fun.

That being said, I still want to work towards a job in the design or photography arena, and as I will more than likely be out of a job by the end of January, I have been looking and want to carry on working hard towards it, the goal being by the end of the year to be working at least part-time as a photographer. If I can, with my own studio space of some sort.

Publish

But I do hope you all had a great Xmas Holiday, and all the best for 2011, whatever your plans are for NYE and the rest of the year! :D

Lydden Hill Car Photography

So this morning was pretty cool. Well bar the fact that for some reason I woke up at 5am -.-
Having never looked at photographing much in the way of vehicles, I was invited to a track day at Lydden Hill to take photos by my friend Jon.
I probably should have looked somewhat into how to photograph fast moving cars, but hey, I'm all for some trial and error! :D Camera at the ready, we left at 0730h and got to the track before 0900h. To be fair, upon arriving, it was not at all how I had imagined really - primarily because the place looked empty, and from having only seen footage from event days before I guess I thought it would be packed. We met up with a couple of Jon's friends (Joe and James, a couple of awesome guys) and the three of them went to sign up for spots. Having only been once before in the novice group, and this group being full, they signed up for the next group up which provided for some interesting viewing :D
Now me out there with my DSLR kinda feeling a tad out of my depth, as I only had very brief amounts of time in which to capture photos of the cars. I picked out a spot as James and Jon went for their first lap - and Zoooom! they flew by! Using that which I've learnt over the years, i decided on a method to try out and started snapping away.
While I found it was not too bad capturing the cars as if still, adding something to the images was harder! I've seen all the images you get of cars with the awesome blurry backgrounds and this is what I was aiming for - and is a hell of a lot harder! In the end I decided that shutter priority mode was the way forward, with the shutter set to about 1/60 ish - then it was just a case of panning the camera along with the car and keeping things in focus. I say just, but this was a challenge, which I loved! :D
And while I did get some pretty nice shot, I definitely need more practice and would love to try again sometime!

//will update this with a gallery soon.

Mmmonday.meh

Okay so today, I couldn't stand to wait about the house to see if I would get a call about the job I interviewed for on Friday! I would have gone nutso!
So this morning I got up, grabbed my camera bag and headed to Canterbury!

Its been a surprisingly warm and sunny day!
I haven't really been for a wander about in Canters for ages really, and a lot of stuff has changed! Among other things, the old comic shop that I used to like has gone and the Marlowe is being rebuilt. I took a couple hours wandering about all the back streets and places I used to hang out at. IT was pretty cool to see how some things have changed so much over the years, and some things, not at all!
With the sun out, there were people out in the masses it seemed, and people were in a good mood! I do like the diversity places like that have - I followed around some students from Germany for a bit chatting along the way, spoke to some American guys who were over on business, some backpackers from Italy and more!
I also went and chilled for a few hours in various coffee shops around the city. Drinking coffee (9 LARGE cups - more than I've drank in a while), reading and doing some people watching! All in all a pretty enjoyable day!
Then I come home and my mind wanders back to the interview; It's the end of the day and not heard anything so it appears I didn't get the job :( I keep going over the interview in my head, what did I say or do that they didn't like? I'll  have to try get in touch and find out, but for now I am just feeling completely gutted! Ah well, to live and learn I suppose, hopefully will find a job soon.
Also, out of all my photos from today, I really don't like any of them! Not a single one! What's that all about? Will have to go again another day and take some more. - so a pretty bleugh end to an otherwise pleasant day!

Back to the land of signal!

okayy, so i meant to write this Yesterday after I had actuallly got back. But . . . well  . . nope! I have no reason, I just got lazy! xD
So the weekend gone, we had a Bank holiday, and so I went on a mini-break in Wales for the 3-day weekend!

Since I first got my current phone, I've gotten pretty used to, and maybe a bit to dependant on being connected to the net but I knew the point was to get away from it all and I wasn't expecting to be online, (hell, I didn't even take the psp!) But I was hoping for at least enough signal to send and receive texts :P turns out it wasn't to be, and it got kinda annoying. Though it was pretty fun trying to find spots with intermittent signal :D
On the up side though, after expecting rain the whole weekend, on the whole it was pretty decent weather and I went out exploring and taking photos which is always fun! I probably overdid it a bit though and messed up my ankle - but hey! I ended up with some pretty nice shots and got a lot of much needed exercise! The place we went to was south-west of wales. A beautiful lil place called Laugharne. Incredibly hilly :P but some truly amazing views as its also right on the estuary of the river Tâf.
Something I noticed a lot while I was over there, was how friendly people there are! I could say hey in passing a stranger on the road without having them turn their nose up at me or giving me the evils. Could even have a nice chat! If here I say to someone have a nice day, I usually get a grunt or muttering as a response by most! Something which I think Nicky commented on, in one of her blog posts a while ago, and I really don't understand why so many people here are. .  I don't know what the word is I'm looking for xD

In other news, totally stoked for friday! :D I finially have one of those things . . an interview?! Had almost forgotten what one of those was :P
When I first heard the voicemail they'd left me I was sure someone was playing a joke on me! But with the letter they sent me which arrived today its starting to sink in and I gotta get my game face on! :D  Another bonus is that its for a job that I would actually like to do so I really hope I do well! Apparently it will involve a 2hour 'Department ability test'  whatever one of those is!

Phone/Uni/Games and stuff

So hai guise, again its been a while and not done much noteworthy really, so just a general post really.

God I'm hating uni, it has to be said! but trying to make the best of it, but losing motivation and fast! Especially as now with minimal time left, we still have not been given a brief for Motion Graphics, which is a double module! its getting ridiculous now! And with winter coming in, and it being miserable outside, it feels harder to get into the whole swing of it all. Just keep thinking, only 2 months left!!

As a huge plus though, I did get my new iPhone a few days back, and I'm loving it, finally having included minutes again is awesome too!
I know I had a touch before, so I didn't think that there was much I was missing, but i still keep finding things to do on the new phone, and I haven't even jailbroken it! :O

I got the Sky Mobile player that I tweeted about, as soon as I could, I mean 3months for free, how could I say no? :P And I've used it a couple of times, and it seems really good. You get Sky Sports 1,2,3, Xtra, News, At The Races, Sky News channel, and EPSN. Now as you know, I'm not really the kind of guy who can sit watching football etc, mainly cos I'm odd I suppose, and not all that into sports. But I've used it to watch a bit of Rugby, and The UFC event this weekend (amazing btw) And the quality was a lot better that I expected it to be, though for a regular price of £6 a month I would want good quality really. Unfortunately it only works over wi-fi, so no watching it while sat on the train!
The Ping! app has also been an amazing app, free push messaging between iPhones seems like a great idea, and already saved me a bunch on texts!

On the games end of things, Not too much been going on, apart from the last week or so, where I've cut down on on playtime, I have been playing Aion a fair bit, and still really enjoy it, with all the fortress raids and PvP with the new legion, it's been a blast! Though it seems that not many share my opinion and the friends i started with seem to have lost hear for one reason or another!

I did last week get my PS3 hooked up again and on the net, mainly with the purpose of playing socom in mind. The COD: MW2 release was a couple days away and I had no intention of buying it! Didn't buy World at War either, so wasn't too bothered. Then when I saw I could get it at Sainsbury's for £26, and with a lack of other games to play (I've left all other games back home), and a couple friends decided to get it, I thought, why the hell not?! So on the morning of release, I went down early to grab myself a copy. To be honest, I really didn't have any expectations of the game, and I haven't yet played the campaign missions, But I have to say, I've been enjoying the multiplayer a lot. The first couple of days on the PS3 were annoying with the party invite bugs and connection issues, but those have all gone now so its all fun and games! :D
Well for most people; some people don't seem to be enjoying the game; Like this fella - I really don't knoww what the fuckkk is up with him, but I laughed, felt sorry for the say guy, then laughed a bit more. As harsh as it is, this guy needs to get it sorted!

anyway, this post seems to be dragging on a bit, so will call it at that for now.
Take care guys n gals!

Conceptulisation

So its been a while, Not been doing much excpet go to uni/do uni crap, drink, play aion and the odd run now and again >.<
Uni, as much as i hate it, has been going alright even despite my lack of motivation and lack of main brief still!

However one short project I did, was to construct a digital narative that had something to do with me, and I went all in for it, unfortunately I kinda ran out of time for what I wanted to do, as I only had the week to do it. Nonetheless It turned out semi-decent I think, and my tutor seems to like it so all good!

Take a mosey and let me know what you guys think :)

Test

Just wanted to test this all out. :)
